LOCATION

The largest of the East African countries, Tanzania is on the Indian ocean coast line  is bordered by Kenya and Uganda, to the north, Rwanda, Burundi and Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the west, and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the south.

CLIMATE AND WEATHER

Tanzania has significant regional variations. The tropical coast, which is quite hot and humid with heavy and reliable rainfall, especially during the rainy season and The central plateau that is cooler and arid. There are two rainy seasons and the heaviest rains fall from mid-March to May, and a shorter period  starts from November to mid-January. The dry season, with cooler temperatures, lasts from June to September and October  to March is the Hottest season. The  Temperature ranges  in Tanzania is fairly limited and always hot, running from 25 to 30 degrees C on the coast while the rest of the country apart from the highlands run from 22 to 27 degrees

CURRENCY

The Tanzanian shilling is  the national currency. However foreign currencies especially the US dollar are widely accepted. Please note that the Tanzanian shilling is the major currency used for purchasing local goods and services. Money changers do accept major convertible currencies including the EURO and the Japanese Yen. Travellers Cheques may be acceptable in some places, but not in the remote countryside, Major Credit Cards may also be acceptable in some large Hotels, however it is advisable to always carry Cash US Dollars

PEOPLE AND CULTURE

Tanzania is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Ranging from the  the tall graceful Maasai warriors, the ancient ways of the Hadza bushmen, the resourceful agricultural practices of the Wameru, the artistic talents of the Makonde to the Chaga farmers and traders. Tanzania has over  120 different tribes with Kiswahili as their official language though English is also widely used though not spoken by some natives.
