This 9 -day itinerary will take you through the beauty of Rwanda – the “land of a thousand Hills.” Enjoy the backdrops and Landscape of Rwanda as you turn along the hilly roads on this road trip of a life time.
This trip will take you through Kigali, Nyungwe Forest, Lake Kivu, the mighty Volcanoes National Park , Akagera National Park, Lake Ihema and of course, while enjoying the great scenic views.
Day 1, Arrival at Kigali airport and transfer to hotel.
Day 2, Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park, Rwanda
Day 3, Nyungwe forest national park, Rwanda for chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

DAY 1, ARRIVAL AT KIGALI AIRPORT AND TRANSFER TO HOTEL.
On arrival a representative from Wilderness trips will meet you at Kigali airport and then you will be transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 2, TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK, RWANDA
After break fast begin your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park in the southwest of Rwanda. Along the way we shall visit the ethnographic museum in Huye. The museum displays the cultural history of the people of Rwanda and the region. Nyungwe Forest National Park protects the largest single tract of Montagne forest remaining in Africa and is a rich center of biodiversity, with 86 mammal species, 280 birds, and about 100 varieties of orchid.

DAY 3, NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK, RWANDA , CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND CANOPY WALK
Head out for chimp trekking in Nyungwe Forest after an early breakfast. There is a remarkable 13 primate species recorded resident in this lush rainforest. This includes man’s closest living relative, the chimpanzee as well as the delightful L’Hoest’s monkey and numerous fun-loving troops of Black and White Colobus. After lunch you will head out for the popular canopy walk where you will spot a variety of bird species with in the forest and also do not miss spots of large troops of colobus monkeys. DAY 4 TRANSFER TO LAKE KIVU GISENYI FOR BOAT RIDE AND RELAXATION
Wake up at Leisure for a hearty breakfast in the morning and then set out to lake Kivu for a boat ride on Lake Kivu, one of the most beautiful lakes in Central Africa, and explore the amazing scenery and visit some islands. Thereafter we shall check out and transfer to Volcanoes National Park in the north of Rwanda.

DAY 5, TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, RWANDA
After breakfast, depart for Parc National des Volcanoes The journey goes through the beautiful hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. You will choose to have the afternoon at leisure or explore the town of Ruhengeri.

DAY 6, GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
After an early breakfast loaded with your packed lunch, charged cameras and gorilla tracking out fit, your safari guide will transport you to the park headquarters at Kinigi for a short briefing about gorilla trekking.
While in search of the mountain gorillas enjoy the hike through the natural forest as you get to learn about the different species of plants and animals that make this park a home for mountain gorillas. After meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed an hour to observe and photograph them as they go about their daily routine.
Head back to the starting point where your safari guide will meet you and transfer you to the lodge

DAY 7, VISIT THE GORILLA GUARDIANS VILLAGE AND TRANSFER AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK, RWANDA
After break fast this morning you will pay a visit to the gorilla guardians village where you will learn more about the Rwandan culture. Become a King or Queen for a day, get involved in knitting, learn how to use a bow and arrow and enjoy songs & folks from the Rwanda society.
After this experience transfer you will set out off for your journey to Akagera National park. On arrival at the lodge you will check in and relax Dinner and overnight Akagera game lodge for luxury,Ruzizi tented camp for midrange and Karenga bush camp for budget
DAY 8, ACTIVITIES IN AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK, RWANDA
Today you will have an early morning game drive in the park, and then return to your accommodation and in the afternoon have a boat ride on lake Ihema. While you sail along the water edge which is covered with several trees, drift past numerous giant hippos and see several crocodiles some in the shallows of the water and other basking on the shore. DAY 9: DRIVE TO KIGALI FOR AN OPTIONAL CITY TOUR AND DEPARTURE
After breakfast at leisure your safari guide will pick you and drive you back to Kigali. Today you have an option for a city tour to visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site and the local handicrafts market, and then proceed to the airport for a scheduled flight back home.
